COMPANY HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
COKALIONG shipping LINES, INC. organized
late 1989, is relatively one of the youngest
groups to run the shipping business. It
has focused on the positive circle of people,
product and profits, in order to grow in
the business. As an expansion program, its
owners diversified from their main line
of business, which is Chester Enterprises,
Inc. a textile and ready to wear enterprise
since 1969 to a more lucrative business
which is shipping. Its fleet is plying eight
(8) routes in the Visayas and Mindanao regions
at present.
Through the years, Cokaliong Shipping Lines,
Inc. has acquired six (6) roro passenger
and cargo vessels traveling the national
waters.
In accordance with the Memorandum Circular
No. 9 dated November 16, 1976, issued pursuant
to Presidential Decree No. 474, Cokaliong
LINES, INC. is a Marina Registered Enterprise
engaged in inter island shipping with Certificate
No. 808 issued by the Maritime Industry
Authority on 13th of June 1990. It is also
duly under Memorandum Circular No. 79, Series
of 1993 issued pursuant to Sec. 4 Paragraph
2 and Sec. 6 (a) and (j) of Presidential
Decree No. 474 and Section 12 (a) of Executive
Order No. 125-A. As such herein maritime
enterprise is authorized to engage in Domestic
Shipping Business with Certificate No. 79-066-2004
issued by the Maritime Industry Authority
on June 15, 2004 valid for a period of three
(3) years until July 28, 2007.
